Donna Kalinowska-Werter
Art has been an integral part of my person from the beginning. An artisan of design, decoration and painted finishes, I endeavor to make things of beauty, heirlooms of tomorrow, out of a broad selection of objects, furniture and surfaces. Each piece is “one of a kind”, because they are created individually.

I incorporate my studies of fine and decorative art, having studied at Pratt Institute in New York, The Isabel O’Neil Studio-where I received my “Journeyman’s award”, Florence Art, under Roberto Passeri-Florence, Italy and privately with the artist Dariusz Miliński in Poland. I have been trained in glazing, gilding, chinoisserie, faux bois, antiquing and a long list of faux finishes. It is my aim to create or re-create an heirloom for tomorrow.

The majority of my work focuses on, but is not limited to wood surfaces, that being furniture, mirrors and special objects. Always adhering to the highest standards of preparation and execution by utilizing traditional methods.

Upcycling furniture is something I quite enjoy doing as well.  Taking a piece of old hardwood furniture and giving it a “new life”, is a fantastic way to keep an heirloom that may have lost it’s practicality when blending into a new interior design concept.

Client commissions are welcomed and can be executed “on site”, if necessary. Some items on this sight are available for sale, yet if there is a treasured piece that needs renewal, this can be accomplished with private consultation and the application of various painted finishes to choose from.
